Help us tell Glendale Mayor Mike Dunafon to abandon his plans to condemn our business and instead allow us to develop our property.

Our Story

Visit our website:

Mayor Mike Dunafon wants to seize our family-owned business of 25 years, Authentic Persian Rugs, through eminent domain in order to hand the land over to a private developer for the Glendale 180 entertainment district.

But eminent domain is for public use—things like roads and schools—not to give our property to  a wealthy developer.  This is an outrageous abuse of our private property rights.  Plus, we have wanted to develop our property for years—but the city has refused to allow us to   do so.

We came to this country from Iran in search of the American Dream. This is the “land of the   free,” and all we want is to keep what rightfully belongs to us. We are so appreciative of the outpouring of support we’ve experienced from the community and our customers.

The city publicly stated in July that it will not use eminent domain to take our property—yet they REFUSE to remove the blight designation, which is what authorizes them to seize our business. Then Mayor Dunafon presented the plans for Glendale 180 at a lunch, and included our property in the developer’s project plan.

Words mean nothing unless they’re law, and property owners across the country have become victims of eminent domain abuse after believing false promises like those being made by the city. We still need your help. Please tell the city to remove the blight designation from our property so our property is finally safe.  Thank you.
